Duffey Lake Road - February 14/15

Finally made it to the Duffy Lake area. Avy conditions had kept us on our toes so far, but things seem to have settled down. Found enjoyable pow at Mt Chief Pascall, about 40 cm fresh on a solid base, despite overall shallow snow pack. We got only 3 runs done each day, on Saturday we started at noon, but it must have been the missing morning coffee on the second day. +12hr tent time confirmed our rule that one winter camping trip per year is enough.

Fly and Ski, February 7/8

Ski conditions didn't look promising, so we decided to air out our wings. First flight of the year at Hemlock ski resort. There a paraglider pilot can take the chair up and fly, for a mere $8 per day! Unfortunately winds didn’t quite co-operate and after a first flight, it blew from the back. Time to pack up the glider and get out the skis for the afternoon. Coverage reminded me of mid-spring. A low-snow year. Sunday we hiked up to Woodside for a sledder. First time landing at Riverside for me.
